Juho Kuusi (yes, that’s me) is a Finnish, Helsinki-based, spoken word poet, musician and community educator. I am a double time national Finnish Poetry Slam champion, and have been performing actively for over 10 years now. I perform with and without music.
My poetry is mostly personal, political and it is filled with black humour. I love wordplay, good stories and taking different roles. My background in Hip Hop does not usually go unnoticed, and Etnofuturism has been playing a big role in my poetry for a while.
Alongside my artistic work I teach the fine art of making spoken word poetry and rap (also in English!), and I produce and host events, etc. I am the chairman of the board of Helsinki Poetry Connection.
I have a bunch of poems translated to English. If given a good chance to prepare, I am able to perform some of them in English, Swedish or Norwegian.
